I'm Yurina Shin—a classically trained pianist, composer, and educator with over 25 years of experience working with students of all ages and levels.
I hold a Master’s degree in Music Composition from New York University (NYU) and a Bachelor's in Piano and Music Education from Chonnam National University in Korea. My professional background spans classical performance, film scoring, and contemporary music, which allows me to offer a well-rounded, high-level approach to piano education.
My lessons are structured, engaging, and always tailored to each student’s unique goals. I help students develop strong technique, musical expression, and confidence—whether they're just beginning or preparing for exams and competitions. Many of my students have won international competitions, performed at Carnegie Hall, and received top marks on ABRSM and NYSSMA exams.
In addition to teaching, I compose music for film, television, and games—bringing real-world musical insight into each lesson.
I currently teach from my home studio in Long Island City and offer in-home lessons mainly in the Upper East Side and Manhattan. My mission is to provide thoughtful, expert guidance for every stage of your musical journey.
"Every student has a unique musical voice. My job is to guide them—step by step—with clarity, patience, and purpose"
